LETTERS FROM THE ROADS

PROJECT:

The biggest advantage of traveling by hitchhiking is the ability to talk to people. The car constitutes a kind a bubble of privacy and we are entering it. We ask questions, tell our story and listen to the stories of other people: drivers, travellers and strangers we meet on our way to the next destination. I usually write them down. Slip your hand into the envelope and choose a story from the road. Real people, real stories and real captures. Also this time I didn’t edit my pictures at all and used only standard 50mm lens. Based on 35-year-old Praktica mtl50 and 35mm colour negative film.

ABOUT JOLA LISICKA:

My name is Jola, I shoot film and tell stories. I like a gentle light, the feeling of freedom, cultural differences and vintage stuff. I always travel with my camera and a backpack, hitch-hike pretty often, spend long nights under the stars or at local people’s places. I do not ascend the highest peaks, I do not swim with dolphins. But I go off the path, stroll around villages and capture the moments by using mostly 35-years old analogue Praktica
